STECS Throttle System Mk.II - Standard

loved the throttle, especially the detent system that came quite handy with negative-positive axis. The only downside is that the cable in the box might be relatively short for some people, especially if their pc is on top of the desk or elsewhere (not under the desk). Anyway, give it a solid 5/5, hopefully will last a long time. Also, all the buttons and switches make a sim experience so much better (and they're high quality too)

Starting out my flight sim journey with VKB gear has been the best decision. The Gladiator EVO 'Space Combat Edition' Premium joystick is super precise, comfortable, and just feels great to fly with. I first paired it with the GNX Throttle Quadrant, which was an awesome starter throttle—smooth and easy to use—but I’ve since upgraded to the STECS Standard and wow, the quality and functionality are on another level. It’s completely transformed my setup.
All together, these products make flying so much more immersive, and you can really tell the care and craftsmanship VKB puts into their gear. I’m already thinking about my next purchase—the Gunfighter joystick and rudder pedals—so time to start saving up, but I think it will be worth it though, lol.

Arrived in a reasonable amount of time, packaged very well and most importantly is a fantastic throttle.

I was using a HOSAS setup using a pair of Gladiator EVOs, and while that was fine, it lacked enough independent buttons and switches, and placed too much function on the throttle thumb that meant too much layering and the functions feeling crowded.

I swapped the left stick out for the STECS throttle with the STEM, and it instantly felt so much better. More comfortable to use, lots more buttons and rotaries to control space/air craft more intuitively, and with finger hats I can control thrusters much more easily and with less muscling up than the HOSAS setup seemed to need. The detent system is really easy and I like that you can swap out detents so that you can customise for different craft. Everything that can be customised makes it feel like you get more feedback from the throttle, and this reduces the mental load in combat, or with tricky landings.

My only gripe is that I can't find comprehensive documentation about how to properly configure everything. The YouTube videos are great, but don't cover the edge cases, and don't help when trying to push the limits of the hardware, or want to understand which register a switch belongs to. Switching HATS between 5-way or ministick took me way too long to figure out, yet was as easy as holding a couple of switches and plugging the device in, but this was kind of difficult to find out.

Overall, I rate this device. I am very happy with this setup, and wish I'd bought this a year ago. It's brilliant to use, feels better quality in the build than the price suggests, and is definitely a setup I'll be recommending to others.

The STECS Standard from VKB Australia is an outstanding piece of gear. The build quality is superb, and the control feel is precise and responsive — exactly what you'd expect from VKB.
